Win the heart of your Valentine

Like so many others, I’m usually busy when Valentines Day approaches. February is a busy month for my work and it feels like we just finished the major holiday. So Valentines Day seems to just appear from nowhere.

Valentine Gift IdeaSo I’m jammed up. I don’t have time to plan anything special, which means I run the risk of passing over Valentines Day without so much as a Valentines greeting.

Well fear not. This is the year you can win the heart of your Valentine again and again! How you ask? Simple. It’s all about extending your Valentine wishes beyond Valentines Day.

The four step foolproof Valentine gift idea

1. Valentine’s messages and love e cards

Don’ t panic… This plan will pay off in spades if you just follow along. If you’re dangerously late, like I usually am, you’ll need to start small. Surf the web for some heartfelt Valentine e cards or Valentine quotes. Take a few minutes to locate something meaningful. It can be romantic or humorous. Just be sure it’s from your heart.

Now here’s the trick. When it’s time to sign your Valentine message let your partner know there’s more to come. This will plant the simple idea that you’re planning something extra.

2. Time is now on your side

Your Valentine now believes you’re planning something special. Don’t blow it now that you’ve bought yourself some time. Get busy!

Use this opportunity to get creative. Plan an evening out at a Valentine movie. Choose their favorite restaurant. Purchase an intimate plaything. It doesn’t matter what it is. The fact that you are thinking of your special sweetheart is what counts here. Set up reminders on your computer with plenty of lead-time so you don’t forget what your next treat is. Keep it simple and be sure to maintain some element of surprise.

3. Time to play Valentine Cupid

OK. You’ve done the valentine ecard, maybe a single flower or just a sweet valentine message. Next you’ve shared a favorite movie or restaurant. Now it’s time to dig deep for a special “thinking of you” moment. Get back on the web and find some Valentines verses or Valentines sayings. This is where the power of Google can really help you. Choose something that captures your own feelings. Send it via love e card or any other Valentine message.

4. That special and “out of the ordinary” gift idea

This is the grand finally. You may be three or four weeks past Valentines Day by now, but the extra effort you’ve put in will pay off the rest of the year.

Now it’s time to shop and buy something really special for your Valentine. It needs to be personal, not practical. Think of what your sweetie loves and be the one who makes it happen. NOVICAIt may be a weekend getaway, a night on the town or a visit to the in-laws. It’s all about what they love. You make that happen and the whole game is yours.

Congratulations. You’re now a Valentines hero. You’ve successfully stepped above and beyond the Whitman sampler and a dozen red roses routine. Your sweetie will remember the extras and you’ll be in perfect position for all that love to come right back at you.

Soak it in, friend, but heed this word of caution… Once inducted into the Super Valentines Club, you can never escape. Next year will be here before you know it and the expectation will be set.

Better set next year’s email reminders today. Happy Valentines!
